My friend I did not read all the posts respondng to your situation so I maybe repeating what has already been said. But, your X is supposed to be an adult. The Girl CHild is still a child and does not deserve these feelings if failing to earn his love and respect. She has done nothing. It is your job to protect her to every extent possib;e. If that includes having a heart to heart talk about the X's issues then so be it. At least that would give her some reasurrance it is not HER. She needs this assurance now and not next week or year. THe longer she is left with these feelings the more rooted they will become. Explaining all of this to her is not X-bashing but even if it were she comes first. JMHO

I am so glad your talk went well. I do think it is important. My mil is mentally ill but growing up it was never talked about. My husband looks back and at times thought he was going crazy because of how irrational you would act yet no one ever addressed it. They all acted like everything was perfectly fine.

Just be 100% honest about the situation, no embellishments or anything of the sort. That is the best thing to do, as long as your not dragging it out its not x-bashing or anything of the sort. Its not very fair that he gets to look like the great guy that never does anything wrong. Be honest with her and it should work out. I had this problem with my father who was never around unless it was convenient, but my mother explained everything to me at an early age and it was fine.
