ORIGINAL: Miss Giggles It seems like it though, esp this area. This area's kind of affluent. And those that aren't won't pay their other bills but have one. I agree with you. I think it may depend on the area of the country you live. I also live in a pretty affluent area and it seems the majority of the people have smartphones. I see lots of iphones too.

Oh, I am so glad I found this thread. I am in need of a new computer. Our son had a Mac and several friends are encouraging me as well. So yesterday we went and checked them out. I really liked what I saw and heard and learned. I will go with the desktop model because I have neuropathy in my hands so a laptop is more difficult for me. Any words of wisdom?

If you already have a monitor, the mac mini is a pretty cool computer. If you can afford the imac.. those are pretty nice too

ORIGINAL: Liveloved Thanks for the words of wisdom. I, obviously, tried out the keyboard and was surprised that it was much easier to use than, for example, my husband's laptop. But I perhaps should explore the world of ergonomics although I like the idea of being wireless . . . I wonder if there's a wireless ergonomic keyboard available. That would be ideal for you, I imagine! quote:
ORIGINAL: Liveloved Do most use the software that comes with it (for word processing) or purchase the package. . . and I'm sorry I don't remember the names of the products? Well, since my iMac is at work, my employer buys all the software we need. We have Microsoft Office for Mac as well as Adobe Creative Suite. At home, I just moved my Microsoft Office 2004: Student Edition from the iBook to my MacBook. I also got Open Office for Mac -- and that was free. It has a word processing facet. And I got another app (runs on Open Office/Linux/whatever? I forget) that is for writers (of novels, screenplays, plays, etc.), but I forget its name. Sad thing is that my Myst games will not play on the MacBook. They're too old, and the laptop is too new of an OS. I use Safari, which came with the laptop, but Firefox works well too... and that's downloadable for free. Of the things that came with the laptop, I mostly use Safari, iTunes, the built-in DVD players (super-duper handy!), PhotoBooth (you take photos w/ the computer), and iPhoto (which is the photo library and editing software).

Wednesday, July 14, 2010 There are a few wireless keyboards which work with iMacs. I personally use the Logitech USB keyboard/mouse which is specifically for the Mac. The reason I use Logitech is that all the Logitech keyboards have a similar layout, so when I move my from system to system my keyboard layouts are always the same. Phil

I'm having a problem w/my 6 month old MAC laptop. My track pad is sometimes making my cursor freeze. Sometimes the arrow won't move and then after a few seconds it will. It's weird because this has just been happening. Anybody know maybe why this is happening and what I can do about it? I love my MAC! Wouldn't go with anything else.

. . . . ..... okay. A new issue popped up... my airport seemed glitchy for a couple of weeks - kicking me off the internet here and there. Now I'm not able to wifi and am currently attached to my Internet by a leash. Do you think I need a new card? Otherwise.... I'm still lovin' my Mac and it is working very well for school.
